Happy February from the Central Eurasian Studies Summer Institute!
The February 1 priority deadline has passed, but applications will be considered for general admission through April 1. As a reminder, FLAS applications are due this Friday, February 14.

Looking to Fund Your CESSI 2025 Experience?
|
|
|
|
FLAS Fellowship
- Foreign Language and Area Studies Fellowships are open to U.S. citizens, permanent residents and U.S. nationals with a language level requirement dependent on the applicant.
- Funding is provided by the United States Department of Education.
- The fellowship covers full tuition + a $3,500 stipend.
- The final deadline is February 14.

CESSI Tuition Remission Scholarship
- The CESSI Tuition Remission Scholarship is open to all CESSI applicants.
- The scholarship amount is up to $4,000 based on merit and availability of funding.
- Rolling admission accepted through April 1.
|
|
|
|
WISLI Tuition Scholarship
- The WISLI Tuition Scholarship is open to all CESSI applicants.
- The scholarship covers 50% of tuition for summer 2025 language study at one of the WISLI summer language institutes including CESSI.
- The final deadline is March 2.

AATSEEL Virtual Conference
The annual conference of the American Association of Teachers of Slavic and East European Language will take place in a fully virtual format February 20-23, 2025. CESSI and the Center for Russia, East Europe, and Central Asia (CREECA) will be among the participating exhibitors.

Bodies in Focus Virtual Series
Join CREECA, the University of Pittsburgh and Ohio State University for the last in this 6-part virtual event series focused on examining body matters within Eurasia through a variety of disciplines and themes. The sixth and final panel on February 21 will focus on Body Matters & Liberation in East European and Eurasian Studies.

Instructional Materials in Less Commonly Taught Languages Virtual Panel
On Friday, February 14, there will be an online brown bag for LCTL and other language educators hosted by the UW-Madison Language Institute. Authors of innovative instructional materials in three languages, including Indonesian, Russian, and Yorùbá, will showcase their work and discuss how these projects can serve as models for other less commonly taught languages.

ASEEES Call for Proposals
The Association for Slavic, East European, & Eurasian Studies (ASEEES) will hold their 2025 conference November 20-23, 2025, in Washington, D.C. The convention theme is "Memory" with an emphasis on Central Asian Studies. Proposal applications on all aspects of Central Asian Studies in all disciplines will open in January, with a deadline of March 1, 2025.
