Upcoming Trainings & Workshops

Genomics Data Carpentry, Data Science Hub
August 1st-4th & August 8th-9th, 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Virtual, Genomics Data Carpentry teaches individuals working in genomics the fundamental data skills needed to conduct research. Its target audience is researchers who have little to no prior computational experience building on learners' existing knowledge to enable them to quickly apply skills learned to their own research. This workshop includes project organization and management, Unix Shell, and data analysis and visualization with R. Register for Genomics Data Carpentry by July 25.

Geospatial Data Carpentry, Data Science Hub
August 17th-18th, 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., In-person, Geospatial Data Carpentry teaches individuals working in genomics the fundamental data skills needed to conduct research. Its target audience is researchers who have little to no prior computational experience building on learners' existing knowledge to enable them to quickly apply skills learned to their own research. This workshop includes project organization and management, Unix Shell, and data analysis and visualization with R. Register for Geosptaial Data Carpentry by August 11.

Upcoming Seminars & Events

SILO, Summer Series
Summer SILO will meet at Memorial Union from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. every Wednesday. Each week they will have an informal presentation about ongoing research activities, open problems, or new research directions to stimulate discussion and potentially new collaborations. Check Today in the Union (TITU) in the union lobby for the meeting location.

Seeking Panelists — 2022 Innovations in Healthcare Education Research Conference
The Medical College of Wisconsin is hosting its ninth annual Innovations in Healthcare Education Research (IHER) annual conference on Sep 20-22, 2022. We are constructing a one-hour panel session for the conference entitled “Artificial Intelligence in Healthcare Education” which currently consists of faculty from our medical school. Although the medical faculty will discuss topics such as imaging via convolutional neural networks which is important to their research and practice, the discussion must eventually resolve issues such as student learning, resident/post-doc training, and faculty/staff development. The one-hour panel session takes place Thursday morning, Sep 22, 2022. If you are interested in joining the panel and sharing your expertise using AI/machine learning/neural networks within the healthcare sector, please email Robert Treat at rtreat@mcw.edu
