Teaching Tools: Canvas and More

Get help using the campus-supported academic technology that enhances teaching and supports student learning. Co‑facilitated by CTLM and Learn@UW, this session will share practical ways to get to know students, communicate regularly, build community, and gauge learning using Canvas, Piazza, HonorLock, TopHat, and more! New and current instructors are welcome to attend.

Group Work at Scale

Sept. 15, 12-1:15 p.m.
Explore practical strategies for designing effective, engaging group work in large-enrollment courses with Shawn Green, Mark and Ilene Laufman Family Professor and Department Chair of Psychology. Participants will learn how to structure collaboration, manage logistics, and create meaningful group experiences that improve student learning at scale.

Learning That Lasts

Sept. 25, 12-1:15 p.m.
Join Julie Hunt Johnson, CTLM Program Manager, for a workshop that connects key insights from student development and learning science to practical course design. Participants will explore how students learn, reflect, and grow—and leave with strategies that help students make meaning, deepen learning, and build lasting connections.
