HAQAST Massachusetts (June 4 & 5)!
Our next public meeting is June 4-5th, 2024 in Boston, Massachusetts. The meeting is free and open to the public! You can register here, and apply for stakeholder travel funding here. If you are interested in presenting a poster, please register for the meeting to indicate your interest.
A room block is available at the Boston Marriott Cambridge (50 Broadway Cambridge, Massachusetts 02142) until May 10th, learn more here.

NASA Funding Opportunities
NASA's Science Mission Directorate (SMD) announced the release of its annual omnibus solicitation for basic and applied research, Research Opportunities in Space and Earth Science (ROSES) 2024 with 100 different proposal opportunities. One of these opportunities is for the next generation of NASA HAQAST. Find out more here.

Preliminary TEMPO Data Now Available
Want to start working with TEMPO data, learn about the file formats, and content? Three weeks of preliminary, unvalidated data is now available through NASA Earthdata Search.

Summer Intern Openings
- LADCO is hiring two interns for summer 2024 who are upper undergrads or grad students to work with virtually, 20-30 hours a week. Applications are due March 8th. You can see more details here.
- NASA DEVELOP is seeking interns, many opportunities are available. Deadline: February 23th.

- February 26, 2024 at 1:00 pm ET HAQAST TEMPO for Ozone Tiger Team Quarterly Meeting (online via Zoom). Contact Jenny Bratburd (bratburd@wisc.edu) to be added to the email list.
- February 27-29, 2024: National Exceptional Events Workshop in St. Louis. This workshop will provide an overview of the Exceptional Events Rule and its application among state, Tribal and local air agencies, and review tools and examples. Registration is open for this workshop and free, but limited to state/local/Tribal air agencies, Federal Land Managers and US EPA for the time being. Learn more here.
- March 6, 2024 at 11:00 am ET: HAQAST Satellite Data for Environmental Justice (SD4EJ) Tiger Team monthly meeting (online via Teams). Contact team lead Qian Xiao (qian.xiao@uth.tmc.edu) if you would like to be added to the SD4EJ mailing list.
- March 13, 2024 at 9:00 am ET: GEO Health Community of Practice Air Quality Working Group Monthly meeting (online via Teams). We are working on updating the NASA HAQAST Flowchart for Data and Resources on Health and Air Quality Applications of Satellite Data.
- March 26, 2024: The Allin Wayra IGAC project aims to advance the knowledge of using small sensors for air quality and atmospheric science, particularly in regions where more “official” measurements are lacking. They will be having a scoping workshop March 26.
- April 3-7, 2024: Society for Environmental Journalists is hosting their annual conference in Philadelphia. Join us for a session on Friday, April 5th: Using Emerging Data and Climate Science to Better Cover Wildfire Smoke’s Effects. See more here
- April 28-30, 2024: The annual Health Effects Institute Conference will take place in Philadelphia. Scientific sessions include: optimizing research to support policy development, health and air quality effects of goods movement in a changing landscape, and from atmosphere to health: what does the changing climate mean for air quality management and public health planning? HAQAST Highlights
- Living in Heat that Kills: In partnership with Miami-Dade County, Chris Uejio and the HAQAST Environmental Justice Team used satellite data to understand which residents and what areas are most impact by heat.
- Tiny but Mighty: On this episode of the NASA’S Curious Universe Podcast guest Susan Anenburg and others discuss the effect of aerosols in areas from air pollution to climate change.
- Satellite Data Can Help Limit the Dangers of Windblown Dust: HAQAST research led by Daniel Tong utilizes NASA and NOAA data to provide early warnings to the public about dust storms.
