Welcome Ceremony for L&S's New Teaching Mentors

The L&S TA Training and Support Team along with the L&S Instructional Design Collaborative welcomed the 2025 Teaching Mentors to the L&S Teaching Mentors Program last Thursday at Birge Hall. Teaching Mentors are an instrumental part of L&S's Annual Fall TA Training and are selected through an application process which opens in the fall and closes in early spring.

Cyberhygiene: Keeping Your Devices Clean for Your Students

Visit the new Cyberhygiene resource page on Knowledge Base, a resource developed specifically for UW TAs by the L&S Cybersecurity team. The guide shows you simple steps you can take to ensure your students' information is safe and private on your personal devices.

Thirsty Cats Riding Elevated Icebergs

A mnemonic for Google’s TCREI Framework, we generated this image of Thirsty Cats Riding Elevated Icebergs using Google Gemini, a UW approved generative AI tool free for all UW students and employees. Additionally, you also have data protection when using your NetID for Microsoft Copilot. Just remember, AI chatbots outside of Gemini and Copilot are not included with UW-Madison campus licensing. For more information on data protection and security best practices, visit DoIT's most recent guidelines for using Generative AI services at UW-Madison.

How to Know You are Protected

When accessing Copilot or Gemini with your NetID, you can be sure UW-Madison enterprise protection is active through the presence of a green shield with white checkmark (Copilot), or for Gemini, text below the prompt field. Note that you may need to initially prompt Gemini to 'activate' the data protection.
