Administration of Naltrexone Injections (Vivitrol) for Opioid Relapse Prevention

In a free webinar on April 18 from 7:30 - 8:30 p.m., the UW–Madison School of Pharmacy will host a panel of pharmacists who administer naltrexone injections in a program moderated by Assistant Professor James (Jay) H. Ford II, PhD, FACHE, LFHIMSS.

The preferred evidence-based treatment for persons with an opioid use disorder (OUD) combines the use of FDA-approved medications for OUD (MOUD) with counseling and behavioral therapies. However, access to MOUD has not kept up with increased demand. Statutory and regulatory changes over the last five years have positioned Wisconsin community pharmacies to become a major provider of MOUD services statewide.

Join us to learn about the experiences of pharmacists and the impact that access to care has on patients. Panelists sharing their expertise include: Eric Jachthuber, pharmacist at Bentley Pharmacy in Montello, John Lemke (PharmD '15), Community Pharmacy Managing Pharmacist at Streu's Pharmacy Bay Natural in Green Bay, Thad Schumacher, pharmacist and owner of Fitchburg Family Pharmacy in Madison, and Jenni Villeneuve (PharmD '02), pharmacist and part owner of Murdock Hometown Pharmacy in Oshkosh.

We welcome your registration by midnight on Sunday, April 17. After registration, you will receive a confirmation email. Continuing education credits are not available for this event.

Please direct questions to Alissa Karnaky, Alumni Relations and Advancement Coordinator, at karnaky@wisc.edu or (608) 263-2265.

Thank you for your registration!

We will share the questions with the panelists for them to incorporate in their remarks, or address the questions after the presentation.
