I’m delighted to share my latest video, which explores how a small group of ambitious students curated an exhibition highlighting the life and work of Wisconsin-based drag artist, Cass Marie Domino. The video goes behind the scenes through exclusive interviews with the wonderful community of students and professionals who put the show together and footage of the show being installed in the Memorial Union’s Main Gallery.

The end of March brings one of my favorite times of year, personally, as a filmmaker: The Wisconsin Film Festival is fast approaching! You can peruse the vast selection of screenings and purchase your tickets here in advance of the festival, which spans April 9-16. The expert programmers and technicians behind the fest bring hundreds of tantalizing films of all kinds and lengths to venues across the city of Madison, often with a chance to meet the filmmakers during in-person Q&A sessions. What really sets this festival apart is the dedication to programming work from “Wisconsin’s Own” filmmakers. If you are pining for bite-sized dramatic narratives, consider taking in a program of Wisconsin’s Own Short Stories. If you are brave enough to face the dark, Wisconsin’s Own Horror and Sci-Fi Shorts may tempt you to explore the shadowiest corners of your creative imagination. If you call yourself eclectic, Mixed Bag: Wisconsin’s Own Short Films is sure to make you laugh, cry, and wonder at the creativity on display. This is just the tip of the iceberg, so dive deep, and I hope to see you there.

Ever since I brought my bike out of storage for the spring season, I’ve once again fallen in love with my view of Madison from two wheels. I can skip traffic on John Nolen and the crowded rush hour bus, zipping from one end of the Isthmus to the other in minutes. Now that temperatures are trending comfortably above freezing, grab your helmet and follow me to these arts events within biking distance of campus:

Tandem Press’ current exhibition features a collection of work from MFA Candidate and 2025-26 Tandem Press Studio Curatorial Project Assistant Alexandra Riesco. “Pathways” explores an ecologically centered concept of home, following the artist’s journey from the everglades of Florida to the glacial prairies of Wisconsin. Hurry to catch “Pathways” before it closes on March 27!

Earlier this month, I had the pleasure of attending a screening of MFA Candidate Blue Naga’s film “Father! You Left Me Dreaming in a Colonizer’s Tongue,” and it left me eager to return to the surreal, poetic world of Blue’s art. “Sita & Other Sisters” is currently on view at Arts + Literature Laboratory, with a final live performance scheduled for Saturday, April 4, at 3 p.m.

Line Breaks is back and bigger than ever! This year, OMAI has extended the annual Hip Hop Theater Festival from one week to a full month. Programming includes visual art, music, film, and fashion. I’ll be arranging my calendar around the Performance Showcases at the Overture Center on April 10 and 11.
