Dear Friends and Colleagues,
Our grant funding will conclude on September 29, 2025, and while a new Notice of Funding Opportunity is forecasted, we have not yet received information about when it will be posted. Until then, this will be our last newsletter for the foreseeable future.
Over the past several years, we’ve been proud to support rural communities across the Great Lakes region through a wide range of impactful products and initiatives, including:
- Needs Assessments identifying behavioral health challenges in rural areas
- Evidence-based training for over 900 adults in substance use and mental health programming
- Youth prevention education reaching over 1,000 young people
- Virtual education outreach with nearly 3,000 contacts across rural counties
- On-demand webinars and training series on topics such as harm reduction, co-occurring disorders, and medications for opioid use disorder (MOUD)
- Special events like the INHERITANCE film screening and panel discussions on rural substance use
- Resource Library featuring fact sheets, slides, and recordings for professionals and community members
- Technical assistance tailored to the needs of rural service providers and coalitions
We encourage you to stay connected with our trusted partners who continue this important work:

Headlines about the problems of social isolation and loneliness keep coming. Now is the time to focus on solutions. We know that hundreds – if not thousands – of mostly small and hyper-local organizations are eager to bring younger and older people together for social connection. This session will highlight one leader doing this work, share elements of successful co-generational programs, and provide participants with the opportunity to brainstorm how to bring youngers and olders together in their communities.
