Moving to more authentic assessments
Friday, April 26 | 10:30 a.m. - noon | Via Zoom
A growing body of evidence shows that assessment practices and processes can have a substantial positive or negative impact on students and their learning. In this session, two noted contributors to that research, Professors Sally Brown and Kay Sambell, will share approaches for designing and conducting assessments to enhance learning and also prepare students for active citizenship and professional success.
Participants will:
- Review how authentic assignments can be systematically and efficiently designed to foster student engagement, belonging and commitment;
- Consider how assessment activities can be changed incrementally to improve the quality of learning opportunities;
- Examine a practical six-stage approach to designing assessment activities; and
- Reflect on how these kinds of approaches can be implemented at a local level in your contexts.
