The Data Digest, published yearly, is a source of key metrics about UW–Madison on a range of topics. The 2023-2024 Data Digest provides comprehensive information about students, faculty, staff, budget, and expenditures.
- Average Undergraduate Time-to-Degree (page 24).
- The number of degrees conferred (page 25) increased.
- Facility and staff diversity continues to expand (page 41). This is also true for student diversity (page 9).
- For research and development expenditures (page 70) UW–Madison ranks 2nd among Big 10 institutions, 6th among public institutions, and 8th among all institutions.
- Madison’s budget has diverse funding sources, with federal programs, gifts and grants, and tuition making up 62% (page 75).

The Badger Data Network, a vibrant community uniting data, analytics, visualization, and business intelligence enthusiasts, promotes using institutional data to support progress and implement strategic initiatives.

PD opportunity: Moving to more authentic assessments

Join CTLM (Center for Teaching, Learning & Mentoring) and SLA (Student Learning Assessment) on Friday, April 26, from 10:30 to 12:00, for the professional development session “Moving to More Authentic Assessments”. Increasingly, evidence shows that assessment practices and processes can have a substantial positive or negative impact on students and their learning. During this session learn approaches to enhance learning.
