Join us via Zoom on June 19 at 10 a.m. for our Badger Data Network meeting, where we will discuss how our analyst roles need to grow to work in tandem with new AI technologies.
Bethany Crowell, UW–Madison’s Associate Vice Provost for Institutional Research and Decision Support, and Julie Carpenter-Hubin, former Assistant Vice President of Institutional Research and Planning at the Ohio State, will share how AI tools can automate analysts' task in central institutional research offices and decentralized units and our role in providing contextual expertise that makes analyses meaningful.
Come and explore how AI supports, not replaces, our work.

What is data classification?
|
|
|
|
UW–Madison employees work with many data types, and we manage and steward data through data classification based on risk. A data steward may assign one of the following classifications:
- Public
- Internal
- Sensitive
- Restricted
Stewards may change the data classification when data elements are combined. Date of birth alone is not sensitive, but if it is available along with a person’s name, the combined dataset is considered sensitive. More examples are available on the data classification webpage.
