Check to make sure you are using generative AI safely
Using generative AI responsibly is essential. UW–Madison offers vetted AI tools, such as Microsoft Copilot and Google Gemini, designed to protect institutional data and comply with university policies. These tools are free to use and offer better privacy than public alternatives. DoIT’s Generative AI Services outlines what’s allowed, what’s not, and how to stay compliant. Together we can keep our data safe and our practices sound.

Learn with us during our monthly Badger Data Network gatherings
Do you use institutional data as a part of your role at UW–Madison? Do you gather, analyze, and summarize institutional data in support of decision-making, strategic planning, or day-to-day operations?
If so, attend an upcoming Badger Data Network session. We meet on the third Wednesday of each month at 10:00 AM. Attendees include staff from central offices, schools, colleges, and divisions. All are welcome.
In October, we will learn more about UW–Madison’s annual student fall census, including the preparation involved, how you can access and use the data, and lastly, how essential it is to reporting and strategic planning. Next, a new group, the Institutional Survey Review Committee, will share how they coordinate institutional surveys. Timely Workday updates will also be shared.
