Meet the Expert Series

Our Meet the Expert series continues as an opportunity to highlight faculty, students and staff in the Department of Human Oncology who are in roles you may not be familiar with and who work hard every day to make our clinics, laboratories, classrooms and office spaces successful.

Please meet Amanda Winge, a patient scheduling coordinator at Eastpark Medical Center and our September Expert!

In Memorium

Dr. Dolores (Dee) Buchler joined the DHO faculty in 1969 and was a board certified Radiation Oncologist. With the help of physicists, she established a program of high dose rate brachytherapy for gynecology oncology.

Dr. Richard Steeves was a kind and thoughtful man who had excellent rapport with his cancer patients and colleagues. He took great pride in his work as a physician scientist at UW and the
DHO over the years.

DHO Residency Programs Transition Leadership Roles

In July 2025, the Department of Human Oncology's residency program leadership changes were announced. Michael Bassetti, MD, PhD assumed the role as Program Director of the Radiation Oncology Residency Program and Alison Arnold, MS, DABR has been named Assistant Director of the Radiation Oncology Physics Residency Program.

Badger Challenge Celebrates it's 10th Year!
POWERING RESEARCH. CURING CANCER.
Over 3,000 people came together on Sunday, September 21st at the new UW Health Eastpark Medical Center for the 10th Annual Badger Challenge. Participants biked, ran, or walked to support cancer research at UW–Madison and the Carbone Cancer Center. It was a powerful day of remembrance, hope, and celebration, raising over $625,000. All funds stay local and directly support research through the Badger Challenge Scholar program. Our 2025 Scholars will be announced at the end of October—thank you to everyone who made this event a success!
