Remembering Dr. Marc Hansen: A Pioneer in Family Medicine

Marc Hansen, MD, founder of the University of Wisconsin Department of Family Medicine and Community Health (DFMCH), passed away on February 5, 2025, at the age of 94.

DFMCH Expands Reach to South Central Wisconsin

The DFMCH has broadened its reach with the opening of the UW Health Janesville Clinic at 500 Midland Court in Janesville on February 25. This new clinic enhances access to primary care services in south central Wisconsin and serves as a new site for medical student rotations.

A Night of Recognition and Inspiration at the Renner-Hansen Awards

The 2024 Renner-Hansen Awards Dinner, held at the Monona Terrace Convention Center in November, celebrated the vital work of family medicine and the importance of community trust. This annual event provided an opportunity for colleagues to honor each other and recognize significant contributions to the field.

Medical Student Samantha Busch Named Pisacano Scholar for Dedication to Family Medicine

Samantha Busch, a fourth-year medical student at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health (UW SMPH), was awarded a prestigious Pisacano Scholarship.

Firearm Injury Prevention: Dr. James Bigham Leads Program for Health Care Providers

On a recent January Saturday, Dr. James Bigham commemorated the two-year milestone of his firearm injury prevention course at Max Creek Outdoors in Oregon, Wisconsin.
