INDIVIDUAL SPOTLIGHT

Dr. Shannon Elizabeth O'Reilly

Associate Professor (CHS)
Department Of Human Oncology, UW Madison

Dr. Shannon O’Reilly never imagined that her curiosity about global oncology would lead her to meet kings—until she found herself in Ghana, standing before Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene himself. A medical physicist with a passion for education, she helped launch training rotations in Ghana and co-developed AI tools tailored to local workflows. Now, she’s turning her focus to systemic challenges, from equipment shortages to public education around cervical cancer. “If you care about global health,” she says, “there’s space for you here.”
