CDIS Building Gets a Name
The new, state-of-the-art School of Computer, Data & Information Sciences building will honor John (’55) and Tashia (’55) Morgridge. They are alumni and visionary partners of UW–Madison, who have for decades made significant contributions to the university, beginning with a humble $10 gift in the 1960s. The CDIS building will be named Morgridge Hall – the first building on campus to bear their name. Read More

Beth Nguyen
A Literary Honor for Beth Nguyen
Dorothy Draheim Professor of English and Director of the Master’s in Fine Arts Program in Creative Writing Beth Nguyen has received a prestigious literary honor. She has been selected as one of 188 artists and creators to receive a 2024 Guggenheim Fellowship. The fellowship will allow her to spend the next academic year working on her next book project Estuary, which is a series of non-fiction stories about natural disasters and their effects. Read More

Students watching eclipse using protective sunglasses

People flocked to campus to catch a glimpse of the rare solar eclipse. The UW–Madison Astronomy Club hosted a live viewing at Library Mall where they provided eclipse glasses, telescopes and pinhole projectors. Plus, there was an around-the-world livestream playing at Memorial Union and Union South, where professors from the Department of Astronomy were on site to share fun facts about the astronomical event. Bascom Hill was also covered with people looking up at the sky. The sun was about 90% obscured in Madison. More photos
