SJMC celebrates December graduates

This Wednesday, Dec. 11, December SJMC grads were invited to Vilas Hall for a special celebration of all their hard work. The Public Engagement Committee, led by distinguished teaching faculty Deb Pierce and including administrative support Rowan Calyx, teaching faculty members Matt Hermann and Pete Long, and communications manager Kara Rheingans, organized the event which included brief remarks from director Katy Culver, individual recognition, refreshments and plenty of photo opportunities. Congratulations, to everyone on the committee for their hard work!

Professor Lucas Graves publishes co-edited issue for Media and Communication

An issue co-edited by Lucas, Regina Cazzamatta and Laurens Laur was recently published in Media and Communication. The issue, titled "Fact-Checkers Around the World: Regional, Comparative, and Institutional Perspectives," explores various approaches and methods of fact-checking in a variety of areas of the world. Assistant professor Miya Williams Fayne publishes article about Kamala Harris' media representation

Miya published a short article with Dr. Danielle K. Brown about representations of Kamala Harris in mainstream and Black media for an edited report on the US 2024 presidential election. Read the full article.
