Director Katy Culver co-edits new media ethics book

Katy is the co-editor of a new volume, "Teaching Media Ethics: Integrating Ethics Across the Mass Communication Curriculum," with Nicole Kraft from Ohio State University, published by Rowman & Littlefield. "Teaching Media Ethics" gives journalism and mass communication instructors the ideas and tools they need to effectively incorporate media ethics into courses across the curriculum. It covers ethics-intensive courses from the undergraduate to the graduate level, as well as how to incorporate ethics into other classes related to reporting and strategic communication. Congratulations, Katy!

Associate professor Kathryn McGarr's honors course proposal approved by College of Letters & Science

Kathryn's proposal to create an honors course was approved and funded by the College of Letters & Science. Kathryn will teach the course, JOURN 176: History of Women in U.S. Media, in spring 2025. The collaborative seminar is designed to examine the historical relationship between women – as consumers and as producers – and "media" including journalism and pop culture. The L&S funding will replace one of Kathryn's courses with us with a short-term staff lecturer, so she is freed up to teach the seminar. Honors teaching also counts positively toward our department's teaching metrics with the college. Congratulations, Kathryn!
