Associate professor Lindsay Palmer awarded H.I. Romnes Faculty Fellowship

Lindsay Palmer has won the prestigious H.I. Romnes Faculty Fellowship, which gives her a flexible fund of $60,000. This award is designed to bridge the gap between the Research Committee’s initial research support for new faculty and the Mid-Career Award for Faculty Research. Congratulations, Lindsay!

Research MA student Ryan Wettschurack successfully defends master's thesis

Ryan successfully defended his masters’ thesis, “Robert Novak’s Sword of Damocles: A Historical Case Study of Audience Attitudes About the Plame Affair,” and will be starting his PhD in our department in the fall. Congratulations, Ryan!

PhD student Aman Abhishek wins American Jewish Press Association's 42rd Annual Rockower Award

Aman’s article from last November about “protective presence activism” in Jewish Currents, based on his dissertation fieldwork, won an Excellence in Writing about Social Justice and Humanitarian Work award last week from the American Jewish Press Association’s 43rd Annual Rockower Awards. Congratulations, Aman!

Professor Lucas Graves delivers keynote address at Desmontando la Desinformación in Madrid

Lucas gave the keynote address last week at an event called "Desmontando la Desinformación" sponsored by the U.S. Embassy in Madrid. Congratulations, Lucas!

Assistant professor Jing Wang featured in The New Yorker

Jing was quoted in The New Yorker article "How Members of the Chinese Diaspora Found Their Voices." The article explores how many Chinese people living abroad have found themselves transformed by the experience of protest. Read the full article.

Professor Doug McLeod featured in Scientific American

Doug's article, "Here's Why the News Didn't Tell You What Protestors Really Wanted," was published this week in Scientific American. The article discusses how traditional news-practices cover only the worst moments of protests and neglect to tell people what protestors are asking for. Read the full article.

Mike Wagner was quoted in a story about how U.S. Senate candidate Eric Hovde used employees as “regular voters” in a campaign ad and the effects of misleading campaign ads in Wisconsin's race. Read the full article.

Professor Mike Wagner to appear on For the Record on WISC-TV this Sunday

Mike will appear on For the Record on WISC-TV Sunday morning to discuss the WI Attorney General’s lawsuit against the lawyers for Donald Trump who helped orchestrate the filing of a slate of false electors in Wisconsin in the 2020 election.
