Anthony Shadid Award for Journalism Ethics event a success

From Katy Culver: The Anthony Shadid Award for Journalism Ethics event in New York last week was a smashing success. Award-winning journalist David Maraniss interviews NBC Nightly News anchor Lester Holt for the keynote conversation. This year marks 10 years since Anthony died while reporting on the Arab Spring, and his daughter Laila was at the event to help the Center for Journalism Ethics honor him. Special thanks to CJE administrator Krista Eastman for planning the event and garnering important media attention, including a placement in Politico’s Playbook. We also were grateful to have colleagues and board members at the event, including Hernando Rojas and Lucas Graves, who flew out to help celebrate.

SJMC faculty and graduate students presenting at ICA conference

This week, graduate students and faculty from the School of Journalism and Mass Communication will be presenting their research at the International Communication Association‘s annual conference, which is being held in hybrid fashion both in person in Paris, France and virtually from May 26-30.
