PhD student Lynne Cotter awarded Top Student Paper Award at NCA

Lynne's paper, written with professor Dhavan Shah and the CHESS team, received the Top Student Paper Award at the NCA 110th Annual Convention this week. The paper, "Decoding the Influence of eHealth on Autonomy, Competence, and Relatedness in Older Adults: Qualitative Analysis of Self-Determination Through the Motivational Technology Model," examines how health technology can support older adults' ability to connect with others, provide curated content on demand and improve their overall health. Congratulations, Lynne!

Associate professor Kathryn McGarr featured on "Here and Now"

Associate professor Chris Cascio featured in On Wisconsin magazine

Chris and his research were featured in the most recent edition of WFAA's On Wisconsin magazine. The article highlights the many different facets of his research team's project looking at teens' digital behavior and its effect on their mental health. Read the full article.

Dec. 9: Ivan L. Preston Research Colloquium with Jennifer Pan

Jennifer Pan, Sir Robert Ho Tung Professor of Chinese Studies, Professor of Communication and Senior Fellow at the Freeman Spogli Institute for International Studies at Stanford University, will present her research, "China int he Global Information Ecosystem." The presentation will be held in the Nafziger Room (5055 Vilas) from noon–2 p.m. Lunch will be served at noon prior to the talk.

Dec. 9: Curb Magazine Launch Party

Celebrate the launch of the newest edition of Curb magazine, Curb: Blaze on Monday, December 9 from 6–8 p.m. at Tripp Commons in the Memorial Union.

Dec. 11: SJMC Winter Graduation Celebration

Celebrate our December 2024 graduates on Wednesday, December 11 from 11 a.m.–noon in the Nafziger Room (5055 Vilas). The celebration will include brief remarks from director Katy Culver, individual graduate recognition, snacks and plenty of photo opportunities.
