Professor Mike Wagner and professor emeritus Lew Friedland featured on PBS Wisconsin panel

CCCR research team publishes article in The Conversation

Professor Mike Wagner and Center for Communication and Civic Renewal students and alums Sadie Dempsey, Yiming Wang, Benny Witkovsky, and Jianing Li published a piece in The Conversation highlighting recently published research of theirs (with Dhavan Shah and Lew Friedland) about local political parties’ social media posting and January 6th. Oct. 19: 2nd Annual SJMC Tailgate & International Potluck

Join SJMC faculty, staff and graduate students at our 2nd Annual Tailgate and International Potluck on Oct. 19 at 11 a.m. at the Westmoreland Park Shelter (4114 Tokay Blvd). There will be a livestream of the UW vs Northwestern football game plus live karaoke, lawn games and a best dish contest! To participate in the best dish contest, please bring a dish to share and we will vote on the best dishes in several categories. Prizes include a Target giftcard, Colectivo giftcard and SJMC swag.

Oct. 21: Ivan L. Preston Research Colloquium with Pablo Boczkowski

Join the MCRC for their Preston Colloquium on Monday, Oct. 19 at noon in the Nafziger room (5055 Vilas). Northwestern University's Hamad Bin Bin Khalifa Al-Thani Professor Pablo Boczkowski will deliver his talk "Digital Freud: The Refiguration of Inequality, Sociality, and Personhood in Mental Health Work." Lunch will be served at noon before the talk.

Oct. 24–25: Fill the Hill 2024

The flamingos will return to Bascom Hill on Thursday, Oct. 24 at 5 p.m. through 5 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 25. Save the date and support SJMC!

Oct. 29: 2024 Advertising, Communications & Media Career Fair

Join us Oct. 29 from 4–6:30 p.m. at Gordon Dining and Event Center for our annual Advertising, Communication & Media Career Fair. Network with organizations across a variety of industries, including PR, advertising, sports communication, broadcasting, radio and print.
