Article in Media Theory

Assistant professor Jing Wang co-authored an article titled "Postcritical Sensibilities for the Study of the COVID-19 Pandemic," which was published in Media Theory: Vol 7 No 1 (2023): Critique, Postcritique and the Present Conjuncture. The article uses three stories from their research on COVID-19 to highlight the importance of documenting and understanding emotional experiences through digital media such as mobile-phone photography, audio diaries, and podcasting. Sept. 25–29: Center for Journalism Ethics Journalist in Residence – Aneri Pattani

Aneri Pattani is a senior correspondent with KFF Health News, a national nonprofit outlet covering U.S. health care and health policy. She focuses on mental health and substance issues and is currently reporting a year-long series on how state and local governments use – or misuse – more than $50 billion in opioid settlement cash. During her residence, she will meet with students and faculty to share her knowledge on health communication. Learn more about Aneri and the Journalists in Residence Program.

Sept. 29: Center for Journalism Ethics Workshop – Reporting on Addiction

Join the Center for Journalism Ethics on Friday, Sept. 29 at the Pyle Center for a one-day training on ethical and accurate addiction reporting. Co-directors of Reporting on Addiction Jonathan JK Stoltman and Ashton Marra will help writers and editors build their knowledge of the science of addiction and how the stigma of addiction manifests in news media. The Center for Journalism Ethics journalist in residence, Aneri Pattani will also be in attendance. Learn more and register today.
