PhD student Danny Parker accepts tenure-track job at Cornell University

Danny recently accepted a tenure-track assistant professor job at the Department of Communication at Cornell University. Congratulations, Danny!

Professor Sue Robinson publishes major industry report with Agora Journalism Center

Sue worked with the Agora Journalism Center on some applied research about a Journalism That Matters gathering in Philadelphia in August called “Engaging Emergence: Advancing the Future of Journalism for All.” Applied research is research done in complete collaboration with community partners at every stage of the study, and then the learning is directly applied to the profession. Breaking Boundaries: J-School Students Dive Deep into International Reporting with New Course

When alum and adjunct instructor Jacob Kushner (BA'10) started developing his new course, JOURN 475: International Reporting, he knew he wanted to incorporate real-world practice into the course structure. To do this, he assigned each student a country to follow throughout the semester with assignments designed to actively engage students.

Public Engagement Committee hosts successful December Graduation Celebration

This Wednesday, Dec. 13, December J-School grads were invited to Vilas Hall for a special celebration of all their hard work. The Public Engagement Committee, led by distinguished teaching faculty Deb Pierce and including administrative support Rowan Calyx, assistant professor Kate Christy, career adviser Pam Garcia-Rivera, communications manager Kara Rheingans and professor Dhavan Shah, organized the event which included brief remarks from director Katy Culver, individual recognition, refreshments and plenty of photo opportunities. Congratulations, to everyone on the committee for their hard work!

Mass Communication Research Center welcomes researchers and alums for the 2023 Health Communication Research Symposium

On Monday, December 11, the MCRC, led by professor Dhavan Shah welcomed thirteen researchers (several of them J-School alums) from across the country to present their health communication research. Topics included health media, health technology, digital therapeutics and more. Thank you to our featured speakers and to all who attended!
