This January, after completing his PhD at Stanford University, SJMC alum Dr. Ross Dahlke (BA'18) returned to Vilas Hall as an assistant professor. This spring, we welcomed several alumni, Ph.D. students and emeritus faculty members to our team. These lecturers and adjunct instructors offer students unique perspectives in their courses since they have real-world experience in a variety of communications settings.
Many of our SJMC faculty members have had the pleasure of meeting and working alongside their significant others at UW-Madison. This past Valentine's Day, we celebrated the wide variety of "SJMC love stories" that have flourished across campus and within Vilas Hall.
A survey on American voters from the Center for Communication and Civic Renewal found surprising insights on what drove votes during the closest national vote for president since 2020. Their research found big gaps in partisan attitudes toward equity and prejudice in American society, consistent with past research by the CCCR team and other scholars.
As one of the inaugural Sports Communication Certificate graduates, SJMC alum Jonathan Mills (BA’20) is putting the skills he honed in his sports communication and journalism courses to good use as a reporter for the Detroit Red Wings. He credits his passion and work ethic as well as his time at the SJMC for laying the groundwork for a successful career in sports media.
