Vilas Insider Newsletter - Fall 2020
A Message from SJMC Director Hernando Rojas:
Greetings from the J-School! As I write this, we are coming to the conclusion of one of the most unusual semesters in the history of the School. Our classes have been delivered in a combination of remote and in-person instruction. While this has been challenging for students and faculty alike, I am energized by the dedication of our community. As we reflect on 2020, we are grateful to our alumni and friends for their ongoing support, our faculty and staff for their commitment and our students for their resilience. In this newsletter, we share some of the things that we have been up to and several ways you can give back to the J-School, including our upcoming Inclusive Recruiting and Student Support Initiative. We hope you’ll join us. On Wisconsin!

Together we raised over $16,000 during Fill the Hill! Thank you to all who gave!
A note of gratitude: On behalf of our faculty, staff and students, we would like to offer a sincere thanks to the late James D. Llewellyn (BS'60) for his generous estate gift to the School of Journalism and Mass Communication. James had a passion for journalism and journalism education, spending his career both working for newspapers as well as being a part-time professor at Oakland University for over a decade. His gift will empower the next generation of journalists and educators. Thank you!
