The Environmental Toxicologist will provide technical advice to 11 Ojibwe member tribes in the implementation of their off-reservation, treaty-reserved rights in the Ceded Territories of northern Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Michigan, focused on environmental contaminant issues and will perform duties listed below in a manner consistent with Commission policies and procedures. INTERNSHIPS/FELLOWSHIPS/RESEARCH OPPORTUNITIES

This program is designed to help undergraduate students from all backgrounds gain valuable experience that will help you pursue future careers in watershed management. Whether you are interested in water resource management, soil health, agriculture, nutrient management, lake and stream monitoring, weather and climate, forestry, or limnology – this internship is for you! Interns will be placed in one of six different locations throughout the North Central Region and placed with extension faculty mentors working on topics such as agricultural conservation, limnology, riparian management and more. Applications are due Monday, Nov 18.

The amount of funding requested may be up to $500,000. Equipment requests are limited to a maximum of $10,000 for each year. The initiative funds research projects that have the potential to fundamentally transform a field of study as well as projects but may require significant development prior to the submission of applications for external funding. Call for current undergrad – post-graduate students interested in drinking water to participate in our next competitive call for posters. Up to 10 students will be selected to share their findings in water quality research OR public health education at the annual Water Quality Association Convention in Long Beach, CA, Apr. 22-24, 2025. All those selected will receive a $500 travel stipend. One winner from each category will be awarded a $1,000 David Loveday Memorial Scholarship for continued educational expenses. Sea Grant anticipates that approximately $5,000,000 will be available in FY2024 and FY2025 federal funds for research projects and programs that will focus on strengthening U.S. coastal, marine, and Great Lakes aquaculture via support for the development of new aquaculture businesses, as well as enhancing existing aquaculture business output, efficiency, and profitability. Take Our Flood Survey! - The Water Systems and Society research group at UW-Madison
Are you worried about flooding in Madison? Is your community prepared to handle flooding in the future? Our study is focused on learning about flooding across neighborhoods in Madison, WI, with special interest in understanding the experiences of socially vulnerable communities. We invite all 18+ year old residents of Madison to participate. You will be asked to complete a survey to help us learn more about flooding and water management in your neighborhood. You may also elect to participate in an interview for us to learn more about flooding in your neighborhood and your personal experiences.
